Fungal Exploration and Collaboration

As a citizen scientist, I have a special interest in “all things fungi.” My personal mission statement is “changing the world, one fungi at a time.” I currently educate the public on the benefits of eating and growing mushrooms. As a self-taught mushroom grower and fungal researcher, I have had tremendous support from the regional mushroom community and have collaborated with other growers internationally on a variety of topics. My specific experience is in creating my own liquid cultures, tissue culturing, wild foraging, fungal and  mycoremediation experimentation. I  began Winding Brook Farms – Mushrooms and More a couple of years ago as a hobby and has nurtured it into a growing business with the support of my beloved partner, in business and life, Teresa Higgins. Our off site research lab opened at the beginning of 2023 in downtown Monroe, NC. The off-site lab is busy investigating specific projects related to mycoremediation.
